Dissolving Lines

Open the gate, step forward into the past. Geometric paths splice heritage botanics.  A transition in time, a dissolving of lines. New life sprouts from cracked paths.

The brief

The occupants of this home requested an overhaul to significantly improve the functional and aesthetic aspects of the gardens. From a facelift of the front entry to a reassessment of the backyard, where a pool and cabana cut off connection between various rooms. The project calls for inviting and uniting.

Site response

To mirror the architectural transition between old and new, we will apply two distinct aesthetic treatments to the gardens.

Traditional geometric hardscape details will define the entry to the house, softened by a traditional plant palette, featuring flowery camellias, graceful ‘shady lady’ waratahs, acanthus and anemonies.

As you progress through to the rear garden, lines blur and crack.

A sanctuary for a young family is revealed. Bold tropical plants fill the space, providing places to play while screening the neighbouring buildings. We love when the genre changes in the second act.
