Filtered pools

Coastal downpours roll in, fall, soak and filter. Through stone ribbon edges and mounds of rusty heath. A place to perch, to chat and eat.

The brief

Create a secluded garden sanctuary catering to a foodie family that loves to entertain. Include a pizza oven and lawn area for the dog. Improve the landscape connection to the pool area and, most importantly, maximise the views to the Pacific Ocean.

Site response

Between the pool, ocean and weather, the element driving our approach to this oasis is obvious. A rain garden stepped through the site will pick up stormwater, and be planted to create a considered and deliberate habitat for the local waterdragons.
